VX Terminal Help

QuickBooks Online

Connect QuickBooks Online to show cash, receivables, payables and the last 30 days of profit and loss. VX Terminal only reads from QuickBooks; it never creates, changes or deletes anything there. Connect once for the whole company (Global), or per brand when a brand keeps its own books.

What it lights up #

Before you start #

You need to sign in as a QuickBooks Online admin of the company. Only the admin who connects an app can later disconnect it inside QuickBooks, so use an admin who will stay.

Connect it #

  1. Open Settings → Connections and find QuickBooks Online under Money.
  2. Press Connect on the row (or Add for a brand to connect a brand's own books), then press Connect to QuickBooks.
  3. Sign in to Intuit as a QuickBooks admin, pick the company and approve access.
  4. You land back on Connections, connected. Press Test to check it.

If the card says "Needs QuickBooks app credentials first", your terminal uses its own Intuit app. Set that up first (below).

Only if your terminal uses its own Intuit app #

Some terminals show a QuickBooks app credentials card above QuickBooks Online. It is entered once for the whole terminal.

  1. Sign in at developer.intuit.com, open My Hub → App dashboard and create an app. On the permissions step choose the Accounting scope.
  2. In the app, open Keys and credentials, choose Development (sandbox) or Production, and turn on Show credentials. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. Production keys unlock only after Intuit's production checklist (including links to your privacy policy and EULA).
  3. In the app's Settings → Redirect URIs, for the same environment, add the Redirect URI shown on the VX Terminal card exactly as written.
  4. On the card, paste the Client ID and Client secret, set Environment to production or sandbox to match the keys, and press Test, then Save.

Test asks Intuit whether it recognises the Client ID and Secret. No company is touched. A good result is "Intuit recognises these app credentials. Now connect a company."

How Test works #

On QuickBooks Online, Test reads the company name with a fresh access token, for example "Connected to Acme Holdings (production)".

Disconnecting #

Press Disconnect from QuickBooks and confirm. The terminal asks Intuit to revoke its access and deletes the stored tokens; a message shows Intuit's answer. You can also disconnect inside QuickBooks Online: Integrations → Manage integrations, then Disconnect from the app's Action menu.

Intuit also requires every connection to be re-approved now and then. The terminal warns you ("Intuit requires reconnecting QuickBooks by …") and the row shows Needs re-auth when it is time. Press Connect to QuickBooks again.
