VX Terminal Help

Shopify

Connect each brand's Shopify store to show orders, revenue and customer counts. Shopify connects per brand. Orders and customers refresh every 15 minutes and are only ever read.

What it lights up #

Option A: a Dev Dashboard app (new stores) #

Shopify no longer lets you create custom apps inside the Shopify admin (since 1 January 2026), so new setups use the Dev Dashboard.

  1. Open the Shopify Dev Dashboard at dev.shopify.com with the account that owns the brand's store. Choose Apps → Create app → Start from Dev Dashboard and name it VX Terminal.
  2. On the app's Versions page, add the Admin API access scopes read_orders and read_customers, nothing else, then Release that version.
  3. Install the app on the brand's store. The store and the app must be in the same Shopify organization; owning the store is not enough.
  4. Open the app's Settings (Credentials), and copy the Client ID and Client secret.

In VX Terminal, fill in Store address, Client ID and Client secret, and leave Admin API access token blank.

Option B: an existing custom app made in the Shopify admin #

If the store already has a custom app created in the Shopify admin before 2026, you can keep using it. In the Shopify admin open Apps → Develop apps, open the app, then API credentials, and use its Admin API access token (it usually starts with shpat_). It needs read access to orders and customers.

In VX Terminal, fill in Store address and Admin API access token, and leave Client ID and Client secret blank.

Connect it in VX Terminal #

  1. Open Settings → Connections, find Shopify and press Connect on the brand's row.
  2. Store address is the store's myshopify.com address, like acme-store.myshopify.com, not a custom domain. You'll find it in the Shopify admin under Settings → Domains.
  3. Add the credentials from Option A or B, press Test, then Save.

How Test works #

Test reads the store's name, plan and currency, and confirms the app can read orders and customers. Nothing is changed.
