VX Terminal Help

FAQ

Getting set up #

Where do I start?
Open Settings → Setup. It lists six steps, checks each one live, and each step's button opens the screen that finishes it. See Getting started.

A screen says I can see the settings but not change them.
Changing settings needs a role. Company and Modules need the settings admin role, Brands needs hierarchy admin, Team needs identity admin, and Connections needs connections admin. Ask an owner to give you the Administrator preset.

I added brands but the sidebar didn't change.
Set Settings → Company → Brand source to "Brands managed in Settings → Brands" and save. Renames and retirements show the next time someone signs in.

Can I rename a brand's slug?
No. The slug is the brand's permanent id; every engine and connection keys on it. You can change the name at any time.

Can I hide sections we don't use?
Yes, in Settings → Modules. Nothing in a section is deleted when you turn it off.

Connections #

What does Test do?
One read-only call that proves the key works, with a sentence saying what it found. Nothing is changed and, before you press Save, nothing is stored. Each connector page says exactly what its Test reads.

Why does the button say "Test saved settings"?
You have edited the form but not saved. Test checks what is stored, so save first to test your changes.

I lost the key I pasted. Can I see it?
No. Secrets are never shown again. Create a new key with the provider and save it over the old one.

A row says "Needs re-auth".
The provider no longer accepts the sign-in (it was revoked, expired, or the approving user lost access). Open the row and press the Connect to … or Reconnect to … button again.

A panel says "Not connected" and links to Connections.
That panel's source isn't connected yet. The link opens Settings → Connections at the right card.

Why is a card marked Planned?
It is on the roadmap and can't be connected yet. For Xero, it means whoever runs your terminal hasn't switched it on.

Can one tool be connected for one brand only?
Yes. Per-brand connectors (Stripe, Shopify, Google Analytics 4) have a row for each brand. Connectors that work either way (QuickBooks, Xero, Gusto, Greenhouse, HubSpot, Zendesk) have a Global row plus Add for a brand.

Does VX Terminal ever change anything in my tools?
No. Connectors only read. Email sends invitations and Slack posts alerts, only to where you point them.

Import #

Will re-importing a file create duplicates?
No. Rows that match an existing record are skipped, never changed. Each type's matching rule is on its template card and in Import.

Half my file has errors. Will the good rows still import?
Yes. Rows with errors and duplicates are skipped; the rest are created together. If any of those fails to save, none of them is saved.

My dates keep failing.
Use YYYY-MM-DD. Some spreadsheets reformat dates when they open a CSV; set the column to text, or retype the dates.

Team #

Someone's invitation expired.
Open Settings → Team → Pending invitations and press Re-send. The new link replaces the old one.

We have no Email connection. Can I still invite people?
Yes. The terminal shows the set-password link once; copy it and send it to the person yourself.

Operate #

Our Operate pages are empty.
That's expected until your team enters something: the engine is connected and answering. Start with the Accountability Chart. See Operate (EOS) basics.

Can I delete a Rock or a to-do?
Retire it instead. Retired items are kept and can be shown with Show retired.

Help #

Where is help for a connector?
Every card in Settings → Connections has a Help link to its page, and the Import screen has one too.
