Getting started
Your VX Terminal is ready the moment you sign in. This page walks you from an empty terminal to a working one, in the order that works best.
The Settings → Setup screen tracks six of these steps live: Company profile, Brands, Connections, Team, Operate and Scorecard. It shows a count such as "2 of 6 done", checks each step against the engines, and gives every step a button that opens the screen that finishes it.
Before you start #
- Sign in with the owner account you were given. If you received an invitation instead, see Inviting your team for how the set-password link works.
- Changing settings needs the settings admin role (or founder). If a screen says "You can see these settings but not change them", ask an owner to give you the Administrator preset.
1. Set up the company #
Open Settings → Company.
- Company name is required (80 characters or fewer). Short name (24 or fewer) is used where space is tight, like the header on a phone.
- Logo: PNG, JPEG or WebP, 200 KB or less. A square image works best; it shows at 24 px in the header.
- Accent colour: a colour like
#d4501b. Leave it empty to keep the terminal's own colour. - Timezone (for example
America/New_YorkorUTC), Currency (a three-letter code likeUSD) and Fiscal year starts in. - Brand source: keep "The terminal's built-in brand list", or choose "Brands managed in Settings → Brands" to run your own list.
Press Save. The header, title and colour change straight away.
2. Add your brands #
Open Settings → Brands and press Add a brand. Give it a Name and a Slug. The slug is permanent: every engine and connection keys on it, so it can't change later. Use lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, for example harbor-coffee. What it is, Domain, Status, Status dot and Sort order are optional.
Brands you add take over only once Settings → Company → Brand source is set to "Brands managed in Settings". To stop using a brand, retire it; its history is kept.
3. Turn on the modules you use #
Open Settings → Modules. Each section (Operate, Finance & Accounting, HR · Staffing, Legal · IP, Customer Success and the rest) can be switched off. A section that is off leaves the sidebar and the search; nothing in it is deleted, and turning it back on brings it all back. Press Save.
4. Invite your team #
Open Settings → Team, fill in Invite someone and press Send invitation. Connect an Email service first (step 5) so invitations are emailed; otherwise the terminal shows the link once for you to pass on. Details: Inviting your team.
5. Connect your tools #
Open Settings → Connections. Every system the terminal can read has a card. On each card:
- Press Connect on the row you want (the company row is called Global; per-brand connectors have one row per brand).
- Follow the Setup steps on the left, paste the key, and press Test. Test reads one thing and changes nothing.
- Press Save.
Each card has a Help link to its page in this guide. Start with the tools you rely on most: payments (Stripe, Shopify), accounting (QuickBooks or Xero) and Email. See Connections for how every card works.
6. Import what you already have #
Open Settings → Import to load records you keep in spreadsheets: patents, filings, trademarks, domains, contracts, legal entities, employees and customer accounts. Download the template, fill it in, press Check file, then Import. Details: Import.
7. Run the business in Operate #
Open Operate in the sidebar. Draw the accountability chart (one seat per function, each with one owner), pick 5 to 15 weekly numbers for the Scorecard, then add this quarter's Rocks. Details: Operate (EOS) basics.
Where to get help #
- Every connector card and the Import screen has a Help link to the matching page here.
- FAQ answers the common questions.
